| Ted
bred his first litter in 1957 while still in high school. Though he showed
and pointed a puppy from this litter, the actual beginning of Arriba Boxers
was when he acquired Nahum's Arriba
while in Vet School and bred her to Mazelaine's Early Times. The resulting
litter produced three bitches which were to become the foundation of the
Arriba lines--the bitches being CH Arriba's
Amulet, Arriba's Anonymous & Arriba's Alicia. All three of these
bitches produced champions, the most notable of which was CH
Arriba's Prima Donna, whose stellar career included both Best of Breed
at the American Boxer Club National Specialty as well as the last boxer
in the history of the breed to go Best of Show at the famed Westminster
Kennel Club.
Ted's breeding program has produced over 90 AKC champions including 7 ABC Sires of Merit and 6 ABC Dams of Merit. Many of these boxers have become the foundation for other breeding programs throughout the United States and abroad. Ted's expertise has often been called upon to judge the breed. He has judged numerous sweepstakes throughout the US and abroad as well as the ABC Futurity (twice). He was selected as the Breeder Judge for the third ABC Top Twenty Competition. Ted was one of the authors of the current Boxer Standard, and he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the ABC and on the Health Committee. |
