Joan Curtis and Cash |
| In
the Fall of 1995, I renewed an old friendship with Joan whom I had not
seen much since her move from Massachusetts to New York. In the Spring
of 1996 while I was trying to get that illusive last major on a bitch I
was able to follow the career of her new young dog. I decided that
he had many of the qualities I was looking for and approached Joan about
breeding to him which we did in August although he was still young and
not finished.
Blossom was Cash’s first born and first champion. I was one of the lucky ones to get a phone call on the day Cash finished. Joan was so proud of him and wanted his babies to know that their Dad was a Champion. Although she was not well enough to travel to see the litter I had continually kept her up to date via photos. I never got to speak to her again but she has remained forever in my thoughts. I know she would be so very proud of Blossom and the winning she did. Blossom was 4th in the 6-9 puppy bitch class of over thirty at the ABC the following year. She went home to grow up for a while and when she came out she was expertly guided by a young handler named Erin Struff. Blossom finished at the prestigious New Jersey Boxer Club on the ABC Circuit with her third 5 point Specialty win under breeder judge Betty Mentzer. She also had a three point major and a single point. Blossom was continually supported by her Granny Ginny through all of her show career as well. I will be eternally grateful to Joan for agreeing to this breeding as well as being a wonderful friend. She is fondly remembered by many in this area for her love of life, great sense of humor and her love of her dogs. |
